Early Childhood

The early childhood program of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center serves the families of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers at two locations: on the Karl Community Campus in Whitefish Bay and at the Linda & Fred Wein Family Center in Mequon. Guided by B’tzelem Elohim, the belief that everyone is created in the image of God, Gan Ami offers a warm and inclusive setting for children and families to explore Jewish values and traditions while creating a diverse community. Professional educators encourage children to explore their natural curiosity and creativity through play and hands-on experiences in a happy and relaxed learning environment.

Acclaimed for its warm environment that nurtures the unique gifts of each child, it has become the premier Jewish early childhood education institution, serving a cross section of the Milwaukee Jewish community. The school holds the prestigious accreditation from the National Association for the Education of the Young Child. Jewish Beginnings provides youngsters with development of character, love of learning and of all academic areas, providing the foundation for thoughtful, moral decision making

Your child’s first years are amongst the most joyous of his/her life.  At MJP we capture this joy, encouraging all children to observe and experience the world around them and fostering expression in a variety of ways. We follow Rabbi M. Scheersohn’s vision that education is about building character, and are inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach of a value-based, meaningful, early childhood education. Our curriculum is seamless and joyful; we live Judaism through Torah traditions, mitzvot and our connection to Israel.  We integrate it all with research-based thematic learning that supports academic skills, construction of knowledge and divergent thinking.
