Birth to Age 6 Programs

Join us Baby Cafe: a special place for moms, pops, and tots to spend quality time together in a stimulating, fun, and Jewish environment. Baby Cafe will meet once a month to enjoy an array of sensory activities, music and movement, art, puppetry, storytelling, and more! Run by Chabad of the Eastside.

All Congregation Shalom babies two and under and their parents are invited to join Bagels, Books and Babies. The group meets from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning. We always have snacks for the babies and bagels for the moms and dads. Our rabbis provide stories and music, and we always have toys and books! Activities vary but typically include reading books, talking about the holidays, and just enjoying being together. It's a very relaxed, casual atmosphere.  Older siblings and extended family are always welcome!

Join us for Family Friday Nights at the Shul in Bayside, a fun, family centered experience where the kids run the show!  All are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the evening, not just those with children. Experience Shabbat in a relaxed, youth-centered atmosphere that's fun (and educational) for the whole family. Children will take center stage as they learn and lead services, prepare Shabbat foods, light candles, and make Kiddush.

We value every member at Congregation Sinai – even our youngest! Our preschool age program for birth to age 4 includes Shabbat, Holiday, and Sunday morning fun with Rabbi Cohen and friends. We want to make coming to synagogue something that our youngest children look forward to – a place of joy and laughter and fun. Activities will include songs, stories, instruments, and craft and holiday projects. We help parents connect to others with similar aged children, to develop bonds that will enable them to share their Jewish journeys together.

Kids love Junior Congregation at Chabad of the East Side because of its fun program and interactive services. Parents love Junior Congregation at Chabad of the East Side because their kids are learning Jewish prayers and developing an appreciation for coming to Shul. At Junior Congregation children are taught the Shabbat prayers in a fun way with both Hebrew & English songs.  Davening (prayers) is followed by stories and lessons from the weekly Torah portion and the season of the year.  Participants are then treated to a yummy snack & fun games. Kiddie Minyan: Ages 2-4 | Junior Congregation: Ages 5-11, Shabbat Mornings: 10:45am

On Friday nights at 6 pm, join us for "Kid"dush Club at Congregation Shalom! This lively Shabbat evening experience is designed for "kids" (infants through K5) and their families. Come and celebrate Shabbat with music, song, dance, and lots of fun!

Parents of small children know that stories are for more than just bedtime. The wonderful habit of ending your child’s busy day by reading together inspired this popular national program funded in part through the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. The PJ Library offers free, high quality Jewish books and music each month to children ages 6 months through 8 years all across North America. The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center offers this program to the Milwaukee Jewish Community.

Shalom Baby is designed to welcome new babies to the Milwaukee Jewish community. By extending a hand of friendship to families who have recently experienced the birth or adoption of a child, the program invites families to become engaged members of our Jewish community. Shalom Baby is supported by a grant from the Tikkun Olam Foundation, Inc. Shalom Baby is a program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.

On select Sundays from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. children ages 3-4 years old and their parents (or grandparents) are invited to join us at Congregation Shalom for Temple for Toddlers. This fun and creative program incorporates singing, prayer, a craft project, and a special snack.

Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun’s monthly family learning program is ideal for children between the ages of 3-4 and their adult family members on select Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This is an opportunity for families to learn together, to get a taste of religious school style learning as a family, and to build community with other pre-school families.

Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun’s 30 minute sing-a-long service is perfect for pre-readers and their families, followed by a meal and playtime together.

YAHAD, Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun’s family programming group, is geared for families with elementary school children. Whether you’re looking to build community beyond the walls of the religious school classroom, an opportunity to connect your MJDS student to the synagogue community, or a chance to spend time bonding with other parents, YAHAD has an opportunity for you and your family! Shabbat b’Yachad is a service so all families will have the opportunity to come together over a meal and then pray together in a unique, interactive, musical worship service. Each Shabbat B’Yahad experience offers children of all ages and those young at heart to join together and worship in an energetic, fun service. The Rabbis will try their best to keep this to a succinct one-hour service to accommodate early bedtimes. Each month we begin our meal at 6:00 p.m. and welcome Shabbat together with song, stories, and prayer at 7:00 p.m.
